Litters and Adoption Information |
Andover Rattery is in Andover, Massachusetts, USA, and is owned by Ann Muir Thomas. Rattery News8 August 2010:Yes, I have babies available! They will be ready around August 23. Two more females have been bred and if everything works out, there will be more babies available at the end of September. After that, I will be on a break for a couple of months. Please send me e-mail if you are interested in adoption, especially if you have contacted me previously. It's hard work being a baby rat: 5 December 2009: Well, the rats don't always cooperate. I spent most of the fall trying to breed litters using older males who, as it turned out, had lost their fertility. Once I realized the problem, I managed to get one litter from a younger pair. Plan B will be implemented in December and should result in two litters around the start of 2010. ANR Tussle says hi! ![]() RATS MAKE GREAT PETS!Andover Rattery sells carefully-bred, friendly pet rats. I've had rats since 1995, and started my current breeding program in 1998. I am a certified judge for the Rat and Mouse Club of America. My specialty is marked rats, and I have bred in dumbos and rexes for greater variety. I breed on a small scale, just a few litters a year, to ensure that all my rats get good homes. Rats make wonderful pets for children, adults, seniors, day care centers, and classrooms. They are friendlier than hamsters and smarter than guinea pigs. They are social animals, best kept in same-sex pairs, trios, or larger groups. Many have likened them to small dogs, or toddlers, in terms of personality and habits. They are curious, responsive, trainable, and very cuddly. The only disadvantage I can say they have is their relatively short lifespan (about 2 years). Domestic rats do not carry diseases that are dangerous to humans.
